WHAT DRIVES THIS WORK

Why faith and mental health belong together

For too long, the conversation in many faith communities has been: just pray more, trust God more, have more faith. And while those things are true and beautiful — they don't replace the very real need for mental health support.

Hope for the Mind exists to bridge that gap. To make psychology accessible, to make faith practical, and to create a space where you don't have to choose.

01

Honesty over performance

No pretending. No toxic positivity. Just real conversations about what it feels like to struggle and what healing actually looks like.

02

Scripture meets science

Both are true. Both are useful. Every episode holds space for Biblical truth and psychological research, because they aren't enemies.

03

Practical tools, not just inspiration

You deserve more than a good feeling. Every episode aims to leave you with something you can actually use in your real, everyday life.

"Healing isn't a lack of faith — sometimes it's the bravest act of it."

HOST • MENTOR • COACH • LEADER • MOM

Counselor in training. Ministry Leader. Mom of four. And someone who knows firsthand that faith and mental health were never meant to be in conflict.

I built the space I wish I'd had - for you.

Hi, I'm Kristin Ontiveros — the voice behind Hope for the Mind. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's in Human Services Counseling with a specialization in PTSD. I'm currently completing my Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree, doing what I love most: learning how the mind works so I can help people thrive.

But my credentials don't tell the whole story. I'm also a stay-at-home mom of four, a Children's Ministry Director, a Youth Leader, and a Media Director at Apostolic Lighthouse. My life is full — and like so many women, I've had seasons where it felt like too much.

Hope for the Mind was born from a simple, urgent belief: that the Church needs to talk more honestly about mental health — not around it. That faith doesn't make you immune to anxiety, depression, or grief. And that the same God who heals is also present in the hard, clinical, messy middle of it.

This podcast is for the woman in the pew who's secretly struggling. The one who prays and still panics. The one who loves God and still needs therapy. You are not broken. You are human.
